Primary Care Physician Will Lead Next Phase of Innovation for Company’s Brain Health Platform
Boston, MA - August 30, 2022 - Linus Health, a Boston-based digital health company focused on brain health, today announced that John Showalter, MD has joined its executive leadership team as the company’s first Chief Product Officer. The news follows Linus Health’s recent launch into the healthcare delivery market with a groundbreaking digital platform that enables primary care providers to detect and address cognitive disorders early. A primary care physician himself, Dr. Showalter will integrate the company’s product, clinical, and data science efforts to expand its solutions for both the healthcare delivery and life sciences markets.
Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Clinical Informatics, Dr. Showalter brings a unique background to Linus Health, combining pertinent clinical experience with proven health system and digital health leadership experience. He joins Linus Health from Jvion, a leader in clinical AI solutions, where he served as Chief Product Officer and led the company’s product, clinical, and analytics teams to launch more than 30 products and numerous EHR integrations over five years. Prior to that, Dr. Showalter spent a decade at academic medical centers, most recently holding executive positions at the University of Mississippi Medical Center – first serving as Chief Medical Informatics Officer and then as Chief Health Information Officer – where he also practiced as a primary care physician.
“My experience implementing new technology as a health system leader gave me a passion for digital innovation that has the potential to advance clinical care standards and impact millions of people,” said Showalter. “With its compelling mission, platform, and team, Linus Health stood out to me as a company positioned to drive a true paradigm shift in brain health and I’m honored to lead the teams crafting the solutions to make that possible.”
Dr. Showalter earned his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University and his Medical Doctorate and Master of Science in Information Systems from Penn State University. He completed his fellowship in Clinical Informatics at Penn State Health. Dr. Showalter has earned numerous industry awards throughout his career, including being named a 2020 Top 25 Innovator by Modern Healthcare and most recently receiving recognition on Fast Company’s list of World Changing Ideas in 2021 for his team’s work on COVID-19 community vulnerability.
“At Linus Health, we believe that primary care is at the heart of turning the tide on cognitive and brain disorders,” said David Bates, PhD, CEO of Linus Health. “I couldn’t be more excited to welcome John to the team and have someone with his unmatched combination of experience at the helm of our work to bring advanced, practical brain health solutions into primary care.”
