David Bates, PhD
Chief Executive Officer
David is the CEO and co-founder of Linus Health. He is a scientist, engineer, inventor, entrepreneur and investor. David was a founding partner of Tamarisc Ventures and he co-founded Bode, a tech-enabled hospitality company for group travel. He is on the board of several technology companies, as well as the philanthropic TMCity Foundation. David has previously held positions at Morningside Ventures, F-Wave, Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, University of Louisville, and Georgia Tech. David earned his PhD in Chemical and Materials Engineering from the University of Auckland and earned his BS and MSc in Applied Biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He resides in Boston with his wife and kids.

Alvaro Pascual-Leone, MD, PhD
Chief Medical Officer
Alvaro is a co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of Linus Health. He is also a Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, a Senior Scientist at the Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research, and the Medical Director of the Deanna and Sidney Wolk Center for Memory Health at Hebrew SeniorLife (HSL) in Boston, MA.A major focus of Alvaro’s scientific work is to characterize and promote brain health across the lifespan, prevent age-related cognitive decline, and minimize disability in patients with neuropsychiatric disorders while gaining fundamental insights into human brain function. He is considered a pioneer in non-invasive brain stimulation and has published more than 800 scientific peer-reviewed papers. Alvaro remains a practicing cognitive neurologist and dementia specialist with a focus on comprehensive, patient-centered, personalized care.He obtained an MD and PhD in Neurophysiology at the University of Freiburg i.Br., Germany. He completed his residency in Neurology and a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at the University of Minnesota. Alvaro trained in Human Cortical Neurophysiology and Motor Control at the National Institutes of Health and was a Scientist at the Spanish Research Council’s Cajal Institute. Alvaro has been honored with many international awards and is an elected member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Pharmacy.

Kane Hochster
Chief Commercial Officer
Kane Hochster is the Chief Commercial Officer at Linus Health where he drives commercial strategy and execution for Linus Health’s transformative brain health solutions. Prior to joining Linus, Kane was Chief Sales Officer and Chief Operating Officer at SpaceIQ, a private equity-owned leader in workplace software. At SpaceIQ, Kane oversaw its multifaceted, global go-to-market motions and grew the business both organically and via acquisition before successfully selling the company to Thoma Bravo. Before SpaceIQ, Kane was CFO at Serraview where he helped transform, professionalize, and accelerate the founder-owned business before a successful exit to JMI Equity. Earlier in his career Kane held investing roles at private equity firms including Francisco Partners and TA Associates. He earned an AB from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Seng Oon Toh, PhD
Chief Officer, Special Projects
Seng Oon Toh is a co-founder and Chief of Special Projects at Linus Health, where he leads strategic initiatives to expand the reach and scope of the company. He is also co-founder and CTO at Huckleberry Labs supporting family wellbeing and also Venture Partner at Tamarisc Ventures investing in early stage digital health and prop tech startups. He previously worked as an engineer and design lead at ARM, where he focused on low power optimization and next generation IoT technologies. There, Seng designed the lowest energy ARM processor in the world, able to last for a decade off a coin-cell battery. Earlier in his career, Seng was a senior engineer at AMD, where he was responsible for the 3P’s (power/performance/price) in manufacturing high-volume products at sub-lithographic 20nm scales. Seng holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley and a BS in Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

John Showalter, MD
Chief Product Officer
John Showalter is the Chief Product Officer at Linus Health, where he is responsible for the integrated strategy for the product, medical, and analytics teams. Before joining Linus, John led product strategy and the product, medical, and analytics teams as the Chief Product Officer at Jvion, the industry leader in clinical artificial intelligence. John joined the founders to grow the product line from two to 35 products, including the COVID-19 response suite, which was recognized as a Fast Company World Changing Idea and earned him acclaim from Modern Healthcare as a Top 25 Innovator in Population Health. Earlier in his career, John served as the Chief Medical Informatics Officer and Chief Health Information Officer for the University of Mississippi Health System, where he also practiced as a primary care physician. John earned his BS in biomedical engineering from Columbia University and his MD from Penn State University College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and the first ABIM fellowship in Clinical Informatics at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA. John recently returned to his hometown, Danville, PA, where he lives with his wife and their four youngest of five children.

Leah Ray
Chief Customer Officer
Leah Ray is the Chief Customer Officer at Linus Health, where she is responsible for all post-sales activities including Implementation, Customer Success, Customer Support, and Product Operations. Leah brings over 25 years of customer-facing experience in the Healthcare IT products and services industry. Prior to joining Linus Health, Leah served as Chief Customer Officer at Jvion, the industry leader in clinical artificial intelligence. Before Jvion, Leah held the position of SVP Customer Experience at Zelis and Chief Customer Experience officer at Healthx. During Leah's robust career she has held senior executive leadership roles within customer experience, product management, and data Integration at a host of healthcare Saas organizations. Nominated as a top 100 Customer Success Strategist in 2022, Leah attended Kennesaw State University, holds certifications in Product Management and Project Management and has a Professional Academy for Health Care Management designation.

Ranjit Kher
SVP, Product Innovation
Ranjit Kher is SVP of Product at Linus Health, where he leads Product Management and Design. He brings over 20 years of experience across healthcare, product management, strategy, and engineering to the role. Before joining Linus, Ranjit was Director of Product Management at IBM Watson Health, where he launched analytics solutions to help Life Science companies commercialize new medications. These solutions used a combination of real-world data (claims, EHR, and genomic) and artificial intelligence. Before IBM, Ranjit led product initiatives at athenahealth to grow athena’s EMR in specialties like cardiology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, and urgent care. Earlier in his career, Ranjit worked on product strategy at Iron Mountain and IBM, and engineering at multiple startups. Ranjit earned a BS in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management. He resides in Greater Boston with his wife and two daughters.

Emma Smith
SVP, Marketing
Emma Smith is SVP of Marketing at Linus Health, where she is responsible for all aspects of marketing and communications. She brings more than 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry to her role. Most recently, Emma was SVP of Marketing at Kyruus, the leader in online provider search and scheduling solutions for health systems, where she helped drive the company’s rapid commercial growth and establish its category leadership. Prior to Kyruus, Emma led product marketing at CareCloud, a leader in cloud-based practice management, EHR, and revenue cycle solutions for medical practices. Her prior experience also includes completing a marketing rotational program at Philips Healthcare and working as a strategy consultant to life sciences companies. Emma earned a BA in Economics from Middlebury College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Julie Gervais
VP, Clinical Product
Julie Gervais is Vice President of Clinical Product at Linus Health, where she is responsible for leading product management for the Healthcare Delivery market. Julie brings over 20 years of healthcare product management experience. She was an early employee at UpToDate, the leading provider of Clinical Decision Support (CDS) for healthcare providers around the world. UpToDate was acquired by Wolters Kluwer Health in 2008. Post acquisition she led product management and innovation, including the development of a new clinical Pathways solution, as well as the integration and development of Lexicomp drug information and Emmi patient engagement solutions. She is currently a member of the Davos Alzheimer's Collaborative (DAC) workgroup for Healthcare System Preparedness that is working to fund innovative approaches that measurably increase rates of cognitive screening, early detection and accurate diagnosis. Julie earned a BS from Ithaca College and currently resides with her family in the greater Boston area.

Joyce Gomes-Osman, PhD
VP, Interventional Therapy
Joyce is Vice President of Interventional Therapy at Linus Health, where she spearheads the development of evidence-based lifestyle interventions across the Linus digital product offerings. Dr. Gomes-Osman is a physical therapist, health coach and neuroscientist. Dr. Gomes-Osman has a track-record in clinical and translational research that harnesses neuroplasticity through exercise and neuromodulation to promote functional and cognitive improvements in different populations, ranging from healthy aging adults, and those with neurological and neurodegenerative conditions. After completing her physical therapy degree in her native country of Brazil, she obtained her Ph.D. at the University of Miami Miller (UM) School of Medicine, and a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School. Joyce was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Neurology at UM for 7 years prior to joining Linus and maintains a voluntary affiliation with UM. In her free time, Joyce enjoys spending time with her son Danilo, her husband Brian, and their goldendoodle puppy Samba. She is passionate about cooking and growing tropical plants, including exotic orchids from all over the world.

James Kuan, JD
General Counsel
James is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Linus Health where he manages the legal and compliance functions to enable its ambitious growth strategies in digital health while remaining compliant with all regulatory constraints. This includes the negotiation of all transactional agreements, corporate development/M&A, venture financing, IP licensing/strategy, litigation management, employment/HR, compliance, privacy and corporate governance. Prior to Linus, James has served as counsel advising various public and privately held companies in IOT, SaaS, medical device, controls, and VC adroitly leading a number of companies through strategic exits, acquisitions and expansion. James earned a B.A. in economics and J.D. in law at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. He has three energetic children he is raising with his wife, Doris, and enjoys volunteering his time as a nonprofit youth group board member serving 1000 students, varsity basketball coach, and high school speech and debate teacher.
