David Bates, PhD

Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder
David is the CEO and co-founder of Linus Health. He is a scientist, engineer, inventor, entrepreneur and investor. David was a founding partner of Tamarisc Ventures and he co-founded Bode, a tech-enabled hospitality company for group travel. He is on the board of several technology companies, as well as the philanthropic TMCity Foundation. David has previously held positions at Morningside Ventures, F-Wave, Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, University of Louisville, and Georgia Tech. David earned his PhD in Chemical and Materials Engineering from the University of Auckland and earned his BS and MSc in Applied Biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He resides in Boston with his wife and kids.

Alvaro Pascual-Leone, MD, PhD

Chief Medical Officer & Co-Founder
Alvaro is a co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of Linus Health. He is also a Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, a Senior Scientist at the Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research, and the Medical Director of the Deanna and Sidney Wolk Center for Memory Health at Hebrew SeniorLife (HSL) in Boston, MA. A major focus of Alvaro’s scientific work is to characterize and promote brain health across the lifespan, prevent age-related cognitive decline, and minimize disability in patients with neuropsychiatric disorders while gaining fundamental insights into human brain function. He is considered a pioneer in non-invasive brain stimulation and has published more than 800 scientific peer-reviewed papers. Alvaro remains a practicing cognitive neurologist and dementia specialist with a focus on comprehensive, patient-centered, personalized care.He obtained an MD and PhD in Neurophysiology at the University of Freiburg i.Br., Germany. He completed his residency in Neurology and a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at the University of Minnesota. Alvaro trained in Human Cortical Neurophysiology and Motor Control at the National Institutes of Health and was a Scientist at the Spanish Research Council’s Cajal Institute. Alvaro has been honored with many international awards and is an elected member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Pharmacy.

John Showalter, MD

Chief Operating Officer
John Showalter is the Chief Operating Officer at Linus Health, where he oversees the company’s operations and drives cross-functional alignment across product, medical, growth and service design to accelerate innovation and execution. Prior to his promotion, John served as Linus Health’s Chief Product Officer and Chief Strategy Officer, leading the integrated strategy for the product, medical, and analytics teams. Before joining Linus, John was the Chief Product Officer at Jvion, the industry leader in clinical artificial intelligence. There, he joined the founders to expand the product portfolio from two to 35 offerings, including the COVID-19 response suite—recognized as a Fast Company World Changing Idea—which earned him recognition from Modern Healthcare as a Top 25 Innovator in Population Health. Earlier in his career, John served as the Chief Medical Informatics Officer and Chief Health Information Officer for the University of Mississippi Health System, where he also practiced as a primary care physician. John earned his BS in biomedical engineering from Columbia University and his MD from Penn State University College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and the first ABIM fellowship in Clinical Informatics at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. He recently returned to his hometown, Danville, PA, where he lives with his wife and their four youngest of five children.

Leah Ray

President, US Healthcare & Chief Customer Officer
Leah Ray is the President of US Healthcare and Chief Customer Officer at Linus Health, where she is responsible for US Healthcare revenue performance and all post sales functions, including Implementation, Customer Success, Customer Support, and Project Operations. In her role, Leah oversees the full customer lifecycle, aligning sales execution with delivery excellence to drive growth, retention, and long term customer value. Leah brings more than 25 years of customer facing experience in the Healthcare IT products and services industry. Prior to joining Linus Health, she served as Chief Customer Officer at Jvion, the industry leader in clinical artificial intelligence. Before Jvion, Leah was SVP of Customer Experience at Zelis and Chief Customer Experience Officer at Healthx.Throughout her career, Leah has held senior executive leadership roles spanning customer experience, product management, data integration, and commercial operations across multiple healthcare SaaS organizations. She is known for building high performing teams, scaling customer centric organizations, and driving measurable business outcomes. Leah was named as a Top 100 Customer Success Strategist for 2022. She attended Kennesaw State University, holds certifications in Product Management and Project Management, and maintains a Professional Academy for Health Care Management designation.

Curt Thornton

President, Connected Care & Chief Commercial Officer
Curt J. Thornton is President, Connected Care & Chief Commercial Officer at Linus Health, leading strategy, market execution, and the partner ecosystem to advance next-generation cognitive screening and care solutions. He previously served as Linus Health’s Chief Commercial Officer, driving commercial expansion and market readiness for the company’s digital cognitive assessment platform.With more than 30 years of leadership experience across healthcare technology, SaaS, clinical informatics, and digital engagement, Curt focuses on improving outcomes, operational performance, and patient experience through data-driven health IT. Before Linus Health, he was Chief Commercial Officer at AnatomyIT and held senior growth and revenue roles at Jvion (acquired by Lightbeam Health Solutions), Medicom Health, and Healthx (acquired by Thoma Bravo and combined with Zipari). Earlier, he spent nearly seven years at Capsule (now Philips) and has also led teams at Quantros, MedSeek, and Eclipsys. Curt holds an MBA and an MHS from the University of Florida.

Seamus Small

Managing Director, Life Sciences & International
Seamus Small is Managing Director of Life Sciences & International, where he leads international activities across healthcare delivery and life sciences. Seamus joined Linus Health in March 2022 as part of the acquisition of Kinesis Health Technologies (Kinesis), where he was CEO. Seamus has been in a leadership position in health technology and aging research for almost 20 years. Prior to co-founding Kinesis in 2013, Seamus spent more than 6 years leading the TRIL centre, a $30 million industry-academic aging research program. Earlier in his career, Seamus previously spent 8 years working for Intel in an IT/consulting capacity across multiple business groups. Seamus is a Computing Science graduate from Ulster University and an MBA graduate from Dublin City University. Seamus lives in Dublin, Ireland with his wife and four boys.

Steve Dutcher

Vice President of Finance
Steve Dutcher is the VP of Finance for Linus Health, where he oversees the finance and accounting functions. Steve is responsible for the overall financial management of the company, including accounting, balance sheet management, financial planning and analysis, corporate treasury, investor relations, corporate investments and tax.

Prior to joining Linus Health, Steve was Director of Finance at Appian Way Energy Partners, an energy hedge fund, and Senior Financial Analyst at Fidelity Investments. Steve holds an MBA from Boston College and an undergraduate degree in Finance from St. Joseph’s University. Steve resides north of Boston with his wife and two daughters.
